My Addiction To 10K Steps Per Day

A recent client of mine said to me, Well, shoot, that's an expensive way to track steps. And my response (not out loud) to her was, Mmmhmm. Totally worth it.

Recently, I made the decision to get an Apple Watch to track my steps, as I had developed the habit of aiming for 10,000 steps per day.
I'd bought a regular pedometer, a BellaBeat, and some other wristwatch tracker that, while all good, weren't exactly what I was looking for to track my steps accurately.
Enter the Apple Watch, a $500 purchase that essentially allows me to do one main thing (and other cool things): to track my steps precisely and accurately.

My addiction to 10K steps began in March of this year - a few short months ago, when I decided to join the local YMCA to get my body back into shape.
Initially, I took extra steps on the treadmill.
Then, I started taking extra walks outside with my dogs.
Next, I began tracking the number of steps I took during my workday.
And now, my 10K addiction continues to this day; where I start my day with a short YouTube walking video to get in at least 3,000 steps, and then return home around 9 p.m. or a bit later to complete the final leg of my 10K step journey before midnight.

You see, tracking and completing at least 10K steps per day makes me realize just how active or inactive I am throughout my day. 10,000 steps has me reevaluating everything about myself - what kind of person I am, what my mood is, and how my actions affect everyone and everything around me.

Having an addiction and love affair with getting in 10K steps and tracking them on what my client thinks is an expensive way to track is 100% priceless to me.

I'm a better person with 10K steps per day.
My mind is healthier.
I'm more active.
And in general, the world around me seems more positive. :)
